Satoshi Kako was a beloved and prolific author-illustrator of children’s books until his death in 2018. Kako manages to cram some 1,850 characters and items into the pages of this lively tale, which sees the adults of a village having their musical instruments stolen by a demon. Instead of losing hope, they turn to the children and learn how to sing together, bringing joyful music back to their festival. A wonderful metaphor for not giving up in life, accompanied by detail-rich illustrations.
