Over the course of his career, Satoshi Kako has authored and illustrated more than 600 picture books, from story books to fact-focused books about science, astronomy, and society. This publication features images drawn when he graduated elementary school, in 1938, at a time when war was fast approaching. Those dynamic images of boyhood are reproduced here with recollections from the author, to present a fascinating insight into the life of a prolific and much-loved creative talent.
