A posthumous collection of tales and illustrations from Satoshi Kako, one of Japan’s most beloved and prolific modern children’s authors. He left some 240 tales, organised into categories: animals, daily life, and stores from the Japan of old. Kako collected local folk tales whenever he travelled and, in this volume, we are treated to generations-old stories featuring an exciting cast of dragons and tengu and goblins and more. This is a wonderful collection of local and generational storytelling, written beautifully yet accessibly for children.
