One day, the author is approached by a swan who starts to talk: “it’s a mistake you know, to assume that adults and children are related just because they’re together”. And so begins a fantastical and unexpected journey through The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid and The Emperor’s New Clothes, with the lesser-known characters brought to the fore. Follows on from Saito’s other fairytale-inspired works, ‘The Fairytales of Japan: As Told By  Supporting Characters’ and ‘Grimms’ Fairytales: As Told By Supporting Characters’.
