The sixth book in a series focused on the baby animals young Japanese children learn about at school: this time, little ringed plover chicks who are protected by adult birds using the unique “broken wing display”. The life of each animal, from birth through to becoming independent adults, is explored through photography and illustrations, as well as carefully crafted text by renowned children’s poet Ryo Kisaka. The series is intended to enable children to understand the differences between the animals featured.
