A group of American high schoolers split into two groups to respectively defend and decry the use of atomic weapons to end World War 2. The group is ethnically diverse—protagonist Mei is Japanese-American, while the others have ties to Ireland, China, Africa, Judaism—and this allows the author to explore the varied perspectives of young, culturally and ethnically diverse Americans.
