object by Leuthmany Insixiengmay
In a small village deep within a forest, a boy named Noi occasionally hears beautiful singing carried by the wind. When a stranger persuades the villagers to plant a “Money-making Tree”, the forest begins to suffer. As a result, Noi must search for medicinal herbs for his mother. One day, he discovers a woman weaving while singing deep in the woods. Captivated by her stunning fabric, he impulsively steals it. This illustrated story by Seizo Tashima explores forest regeneration and love, featuring collages by Laotian artist Insixiengmay.
