Desperate to catch it, he ends up falling in. Undeterred, he grabs the fish with his hands and pulls both himself and it ashore. Tashima’s distinctive bold brushwork effortlessly evokes both movement and emotion, resulting in a story that weaves excitement, wonder, and poignancy into a seemingly simple tale.
