This unusual but much needed anthology brings together 18 stories about women and girls from around the world. Inspired by the author’s love of folk literature and frustration at the lack of female-centred stories. The women and girls in this collection vary widely – heroic, lazy, wise, foolish – and not all of them enjoy a happy ending. For as the author says, “girls can be anything, but they don’t have to become anything either”.
