01 Romania – Ana-Maria’s Homemade, Handmade Life
by Hiromi Nagakura
Negreia village, population just 526, is in Maramures County in northwest Romania. Negreia means “black forest” and this forest-lined village is home to Ana-Maria, a twelve-year old girl. Her daily life in this farming village is one of self-sustenance, with many families raising cattle and baking bread themselves. Award-winning photography Hiromi Nakagura captures the everyday routine of a bright and curious young girl living in rural Romania.
