Yasunari Murakami

Born 1955 in Gifu. Murakami’s ‘Pink and Old Man Snow’ (Tokuma Shoten) was given a Special Mention in the Graphic Prize for Children at the 1986 Bologna Children’s Book Fair. In 1988, his ‘Present’ (Book Loan Publishing) and the following year his ‘Welcome to the Forest’ (Tokuma Shoten) were also given Special Mentions. His ‘Pink! Pearl!’ won a Gold Plaque at the 1991 Biennial of illustrations in Bratislava. Murakami displays his original illustrations at his private gallery in Ito, Shizuoka. His hobby is fishing, for which he makes many worldwide trips.
