Toshio Iwai

Born in 1962 in Aichi, Iwai is well known as a pioneer of media art.
He is active in various kinds of media, such as television, music, video games and so on.
He is most well known for the daily children’s TV show ‘Ugo Ugo Lhuga’ (1992-1994), which many Japanese children grew up with in the nineties.
Iwai is also famous as a creator of Tenori-on, which is an interactive digital musical instrument.
He has two daughters, and has designed hand-made toys to play with them.
Although these toys were made just for his daughters, due to popular demand, Iwai eventually published a how-to book.
‘A House of 100 Stories’ is his first picture book. Iwai wrote it to show his daughter how count to a hundred.
