Chihiro Iwasaki

She has used plenty of water to produce the light colours of the children featured in her paintings and her work is highly respected all over the world.
In 1973, ‘Kotori no Kuruhi‘, (My Pretty Bird) won the Bologna International Book Fair Graphic Prize.
Her books have been published and translated in various different countries.
She died in 1974 and in 1977, her achievements were commemorated through the establishment of the ‘Chihiro Art Museum’ in Tokyo, and in 1977 the ‘Chihiro Art Museum Azumino’ opened its doors in Nagano.
