Masaki Maruyama, who previously created a storm with ‘Deaf Voice: A Sign-Language Interpreter in Court’, makes his children’s literature debut with this spin-off featuring younger characters from his original novel and its sequels. Miho, who is fluent in sign language, and her friend Eiji, who has selective mutism but is gradually learning to communicate in sign language, work together to solve mysterious occurrences at their school. An epilogue introduces the reader to some basic sign language.
