The titular Shrew is very conscientious, working hard according to a strict schedule from morning until night. But there are little pockets of joy in his clockwork life, too: a completed Rubik’s cube, a glimpse on TV of the ocean teeming with marine life, a welcome visit from friends. The illustrations combine Miyakoshi’s signature monochrome style with bold flashes of colour.
