The Great Candle
by Shigeru Tamura
Nico and Dada, a tiny man and a miniature robot, find an abandoned bee nest in the woods and take it home to melt then reform into a great candle. They load the candle onto their wagon and set off, passing strawberry harvesters, cinnamon carriers, boats loaded with cocoa beans, and trains packed with pastry chefs on the way. Where is everyone going, and what are all the ingredients for? This charmingly illustrated tale is a celebration of the joy of both children and cake.
