Tasuke the Cobbler

Tokyo, 1942. Tasuke, a young cobbler, takes up shop in a backstreet. A young girl, often passes the cobbler, hard at work, and over time they become friends. But soon the realities of war take over and Tasuke leaves to fight. This bittersweet tale is Kadono’s love song to a lost childhood, shaped by war. Illustrated with warm nostalgia by Tamaki Mori.
