Chiharu makes an unexpected acquaintance—the man who owns the repair shop. She finds one of her classmates, Shunta, there too. Over the next year, the shy young Chiharu learns a great deal (such as the meaning of the phrase “onions and honey”) and finds herself gradually changing thanks to this surprising new friendship.
