26 Myanmar – Suminmya’s Life Floating on the Lake

Ten year old Suminmya lives on a floating town on Lake Inle in Myanmar. Living on of a lake makes Suminmya’s life very different to many other children—but there are plenty of similarities too, like going to school, doing homework, and dreaming of the future. This evocative photo essay, the 26th in this special series on the lives of children around the world, highlights both the unusual and the everyday in Suminmya’s colourful water-world.
