Set in the Heian period of Kyoto, retainer Sadamichi befriends Tosuke, who has been entrusted with a small box containing a glowing orb. Despite warnings not to open it, they peek inside, unleashing unexpected consequences. Meanwhile, the white fox Hatsuki, who shares a mysterious bond with Sadamichi, serves a princess but becomes competitive when the stern court lady Nakatsukasa no Kimi arrives. As Tosuke becomes enchanted by the orb, Hatsuki also discovers newfound powers of her own. Sadamichi must ensure the box reaches its rightful destination in this enchanting tale of the supernatural.
