Longing to bake a whole apple pie, an old woman sets off with a basket of plums, hoping to trade them for apples. Instead, each exchange leads to something entirely different, as her kindness brightens the lives of everyone she meets. At last, her generosity is rewarded in the most unexpected way. First published in 1915 as ‘The Apple Dumpling’, this heartwarming tale has been newly translated into Japanese and illustrated by Nobuko Tsuchida. Includes a recipe for a whole apple pie.
