This poignant book is a compilation of a year’s worth of illustrated diary entries created by a group of schoolgirls living and studying in wartime Japan. Over the course of the year, the innocence and positivity becomes coloured, very gradually, with a darker tone, as they become more aware of the bitter fighting that rages just beyond their shores.
